Description Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2007-04-15 20:50:53 UTC
I have tested succesfully in both arches since it was released.

amd64 done
Comment 2 Andrej Kacian (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-15 21:22:32 UTC
Installs fine, but I can't get it to connect to my WPA-protected AP using atheros chipset - I just get some iwconfig "invalid argument" errors on stdout.

I guess someone else should test this.
Comment 3 Andrej Kacian (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-15 21:25:20 UTC
Can't even get it to close after "Close" button is pressed - it just freezes up. I wouldn't consider it a candidate for stabling.
Comment 4 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2007-04-15 21:26:17 UTC
I don't have any WPA network for testing it :-(

Seems a problem with madwifi driver, with ipw3945 I don't have any problem :-/
Comment 6 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2007-04-15 21:33:43 UTC
FIXED :-D

I attach a corrected ebuild

diff for applying ebuild changes

welp: sorry for the problem with atheros cards and wpa, I don't have wpa networks for testing and, in atheros card, dialog is properly closed after 30 seconds. The two patches applied (and included in upstream tarball) fix the problems
Comment 8 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2007-04-15 21:37:39 UTC
I add maintainer email to CC list (taken from metadata) for applying and checking these changes
Comment 9 Peter Weller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-15 21:51:26 UTC
Rekeyworded. Let us know when the patches are added in CVS so that some more testing can be done, and stabilization.

Removed s4t4n@gentoo.org from CC as bug is assigned to him, readded amd64@gentoo.org.

Wow, I am impressed - the two patches really _do_ make a difference. :)

After applying this patch to the ebuild, I can connect to my wpa-secured AP, as well as to a badly secured AP somewhere nearby. :) (Too bad internet connection of that AP is slower than mine.)

s4t4n already gets the bugmail for this bug, because he is the bug assignee. Let's wait for him to update the ebuild with your patch.

I get this:

kitchensrv ~ # wifi-radar

    return (DHCP_COMMAND, DHCP_PIDFILE, DHCP_ARGS, DHCP_KILL_COMMAND)

I cannot reproduce this :-/, Does wifi-radar-1.9.6 work for you? And 1.9.7?
I have sent an email to upstream asking for this error

Yep, they work. I don't have dhcp installed btw.

Seems that, if I unmerge dhcpcd I get the same error. 1.9.7 doesn't have this problem, I will ask for this problem to upstream.

Thanks :-)
Comment 15 Peter Weller (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-16 11:22:35 UTC
For now, there should probably be a RDEPEND on net-misc/dhcpcd
Comment 16 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2007-04-16 11:27:36 UTC
Yoper src.rpm (http://ftp.belnet.be/linux/yoper/yoper-3.0/SRPMS.rocketfuel/wifi-radar-1.9.8-7._yoper_3.0_rocketfuel_.src.rpm)
already has a dhcpcd (dhclient in this case) as a wifi-radar-1.9.8 depend.

"configure_dhcp_client() " section didn't exist in 1.9.7 and 1.9.6 versions, is new in 1.9.8
Comment 17 Michele Noberasco (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-04-18 21:32:16 UTC
Added package revision with proposed patches; added virtual/dhcpc to RDEPEND. This is a stabilization bug no longer...
