Description Timo Boettcher 2007-04-14 14:49:10 UTC
As mentioned http://gentoo-wiki.com/HOWTO_OpenAFS_with_MIT-KRB5#k5start and http://www.stanford.edu/services/afs/sysadmin/userguide/web-pages.html, kstart is a utility to let daemon processes have an own kerberos user identity and can get afs-tokens to reach files on afs. The project-homepage http://www.eyrie.org/~eagle/software/kstart/ seems to be down, but debian has current verisons.

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. I can't find the ebuild, regardless how often I try.

yes, please commit that. I did a long googling for finding a solution to run my samba with the afs-filespace.

The ebuild can now be found in the sunrise overlay: http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/sunrise/browser/reviewed/sys-auth/openafs-kstart
Comment 5 Christian Holler 2007-10-18 14:04:06 UTC
I vote to put this into portage as well, but under a different name. The name "openafs-kstart" implies that this has something to do with afs, but it hasn't. We are using these tools together with NFS 4, they are simply used to keep a kerberos ticket but are not limited to afs.
Comment 6 Gautam Iyer 2007-11-12 02:58:27 UTC
Attached is a patch that makes krenew understand happy tickets. (Patch also sent upstream).

PS: If you're going to change the name, why not call it kstart. Since it's in a different conflict, it shouldn't conflict with KDE's kstart...

ebuild with heimdal support
Comment 10 Oliver Borm 2007-11-26 22:17:58 UTC
I've added the ebuild's from Gautam Iyer and Roland Hopferwieser to the sunrise overlay:
http://overlays.gentoo.org/proj/sunrise/browser/reviewed/sys-auth/kstart-krenew/

I've renamed it to kstart-krenew. I don't want to have two packages with the same name in different categories. So, I won't change the name to kstart! I hope this name is now OK for all of us.
Comment 11 Michael Hammer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2008-05-13 12:39:52 UTC
I've now added app-crypt/kstart (yes I really named it this way ;) The package is called this way by the upstream and we do not have any package with same atom in tree) to the portage tree and I am going to maintain the package. For all new bugs I'd would ask you to open a new report and therfore I will close this bug as FIXED.
