Description:   Opened: 2007-04-06 21:39 0000
After upgrading from baselayout 1.11 to 1.12 I could no longer log in to my
box.

It turns out it is because of metalog. With the new initscripts it starts and
locks up, and programs like login or su stop waiting for the syslog.
Killing or restarting metalog fixes the problem.

This problem somehow occured because I enabled console logging in metalog
(commented out in the default/sample configuration).
The interesting thing is that once metalog is resatrted everything works again,
even if it locked up when started from initscripts.
