I asked on #linux-sensors@freenode if lm_sensors can be used to read the board/chip temperatore sensors on a nvidia gpu (ofcourse if the chip hwmon is supported) and they said it needs the above patch for the nvidia binary modules to make it work. I've appended the patch in the ebuild and now lm_sensors reports the gpu chips too (my vga is a nvidia 6600GT with an LM99 sensor), the only problem is that it works without errors only when xorg is loaded. Reproducible: Always

This is probably a patch for x11-drivers/nvidia-drivers .. Not a patch for for lm_sensors. Also you missed to attach that nv-i2c-add-hwmon-class.patch to this bug :) Thus reassigning to x11-drivers, as they handle the nvidia-drivers package.
