The ebuild tried to bring in GTK+ v1.2 on my system, where GTK+ 2 is already
installed. Presumably it did this because they slot, and 1.2 is listed first in
the ebuild.

Also, the preferred GTK+ version is not passed to the configure script, which
will result in an 'automagic dependency' in some form.

I'd suggest just dropping GTK+ 1.x support in this system.
