About 5 years ago have developed a patch to mergelog to enable it not only to merge, but also to split logs (and do both at the same time, of course). I have then sent a patch upstream and the guy wrote me back that he'll review the patch and if there is no performance degrade (and of course, there is no, since I wrote it in a spirit of the package) he'll include it in the next release. There was no further releases since that. Due to these unfortunate circumstances I had to maintain ebuild in my overlay to extend mergelog's functionality. Now that I've got to work closely with gentoo guys it occured to me that the world might want me to share the fruit of my hard labour. ;-) So, as per our IRC conversation with CHTEKK I'm filing it as a bug and attaching ebuild and the patch. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Created attachment 111370 [details] mergelog-4.5.ebuild
Created attachment 111372 [details, diff] files/mergelog-split.patch
"just open a bug and assign it to apache-bugs@gentoo.org and I ll take a look at it when Im back" I don't think I can assign the bug, not being a gentoo developer (yet?:)), but I leave this comment as a hint to whoever can do it.
fixed in 4.5-r1
