There is a conflict between vdr "bigpatch" use flag and both vdr-subtitles and vdr-ttxtsubs ebuilds. The both subtitle plugin ebuilds fail with the message: * please compile vdr with USE="subtitles" Even though the subtitles flag is in use (and VDR has been compiled with it). Removing bigbatch use flag and recompiling VDR allows vdr-subtitles and vdr-ttxtsubs then to compile. Depending on how much the user needs some functionality of bigpatch, this could be considered a normal bug. But I consider this bug a minor one. (I tried bigpatch to find if it contains the cutterqueue patch, and that's the only reason I'd use it for. Also, I can't find any documentation for bigpatch. But that's another issue). Reproducible: always Steps to reproduce: 1. Make sure you have both 'bigpatch' and 'subtitles' in your use flags 2. Emerge vdr 3. Emerge vdr-subtitles or vdr-ttxtsubs Actual Results: Emerging vdr-subtitles and vdr-ttxtsubs fails with the error described above. Expected results: Both vdr-subtitles and vdr-ttxtsubs should emerge properly. Alternatively, if there is a reason why they can't be used with bigpatch, this should be documented and there should be an appropriate error message stating that they can't be used with bigpatch, instead of the current incorrect one).
Hmm, did not know that, but it seems that the vdr-patchset only applies the subtitles patch if not using bigpatch.
Solved in vdr-1.4.6.
