So far libutempter is build from a source rpm file. I learned that there is a tarball version of libutempter as well, and I believe that would be cleaner, to avoid an unneccessary dependency. The maintainer assured me that the src rpms libutempter-A.B.C-altD.src.rpm will always contain the same tarball as libutempter-A.B.C.src.bz2, and only modifications not involving the contained tar could result in a bump of D. So as we are only interested in the sources, we loose nothing by not following every bump in that last part.
Created attachment 110454 [details, diff] Patch libutempter-1.1.4.1.ebuild to use tarball This patched ebuild builds exactly the same libutempter as the src.rpm based original did, so there is no need to revbump or remerge. However, with the next upstream release we should drop the fourth part of the version number, to follow the tarball versioning.
Please merge this patch, or else bump version. Coz this is no src rpm for 1.1.4 on the mirror or the original site, only 1.1.5. And, there is 1.1.4 tarball on the original site.
(In reply to comment #2) > Please merge this patch, or else bump version. I think both should be done, 1.1.5 included for ~arch and 1.1.4.1 changed for stable. I just filed bug 168435 about the version bump. Let's keep this here about the modified SRC_URI for 1.1.4.1. > Coz this is no src rpm for 1.1.4 on the mirror or the original site, only > 1.1.5. And, there is 1.1.4 tarball on the original site. I can get the src rpm all right from my mirror, but if there are mirrors out there without this file, then this bug here should be more than an enhancement request. So I just modified severity.
I'm on this, please stand by
in portage, thanks martin
