Same problem here...

Only klibc-1.4.13 and splashutils-1.3-r2 works with gentoo-sources-2.6.19-r5. with 1.1.9.10-r1 emerge failes!

I have the same problem. I'm in the process of upgrading the kernel, so I'm not running 2.6.19-r5 yet.
Using:
dev-libs/klibc-1.2.1-r2
media-gfx/splashutils-1.1.9.10-r1
Running kernel:
sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.15-r1
Installed kernel:
sys-kernel/gentoo-sources-2.6.19-r5

Comment 6 Johan Ymerson 2007-02-07 08:51:30 UTC
How can this bug have status RESOLVED NEEDINFO?
It is a real bug that prevents splashutils from being built with the latest stable gentoo-sources.
The solution seems easy, stabilizing splashutils-1.3-r2 and klibc-1.4.3. They have been in Portage since mid 2006.

(In reply to comment #6)
> How can this bug have status RESOLVED NEEDINFO?

Because noone reopened it? Not really my business, if the reporter doesn't reopen the bug after providing the requested info, noone will ever care again.
Comment 8 Johan Ymerson 2007-02-07 10:18:23 UTC
Well, I can't reopen the bug, because I ain't the reporter. And I don't want to file a new bug report because it will just be marked as a duplicate of this one.

What I don't understand is how it can be marked as RESOLVED NEEDINFO in the first place.

*** Bug 165905 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Comment 10 Jimi A. 2007-02-08 19:24:22 UTC
FYI:

A patch for klibc-1.4.13 http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=165472 allows for a successful build of both klibc and splashutils.

The only downside that I am aware of is the use of unstable packages; ACCEPT_KEYWORDS=~x86 is necessary for building/installing both packages via Portage.
Comment 11 Johan Ymerson 2007-02-09 08:55:49 UTC
Yes, the problem is easy to solve, set the ~x86 keywords for splashutils and klibc.
The problem as I see it is that a new install (or emerge -e world) of Gentoo fails because kernel 2.6.19 is marked stable, but the splashutils and klibc matching that kernel version is not.

Comment 12 Michal Januszewski (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-10 14:25:38 UTC
This should be fixed in CVS now. Please wait for the changes to propagate to the mirrors and then remerge klibc (the current stable version) prior to emerging splashutils.
