I was reading the KDE 3.5.6 changelog at http://www.kde.org/announcements/changelogs/changelog3_5_5to3_5_6.php and came across this:

Raising minimum requirement for kpilot to pilot-link 0.12.0. This addresses many long-standing bugs caused by previous versions of pilot-link regarding database-size limitations. See SVN commit 611839.

pilot-link-0.11.8-r1 is the latest available in the Portage tree. Perhaps this is related?

Looks like it! The libpisock.so library in the current version, 0.12.1, appears to contain the missing functions.

Bug #89823 is requesting a version bump to 0.12.1, so I've added a comment pointing to this bug.
Comment 5 Diego Elio Pettenò (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-01-27 15:15:06 UTC
I'm allowing kpilot from 3.5.5 to be brought in for the -meta ebuilds, and then I'll mask kpilot 3.5.6 until we have the new pilot-link version.

I also disabled pda useflag in kdepim monolithic and blacklisted kpilot.
Comment 6 Wickersheimer Jeremy 2007-02-21 09:40:54 UTC
I managed to compile pilot-link-1.12.1 but not kpilot-3.5.6.

Oops i got mixed up sorry. Previous one was with pilot-link-0.12.2

With pilot-link-0.12.1 it compiles fine (but i needed to disable tests)

Comment 8 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-26 20:09:44 UTC
Hit this with 3.5.7 too, allowed it to pull in kpilot-3.5.5 for now. Would be good to get this issue resolved though.
Comment 9 Wulf Krueger (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-05-26 20:30:26 UTC
I'm working on app-pda/pilot-link-0.12.2. Will probably take some time, though, because there are several problems I've run into.
Comment 10 Jorge Manuel B. S. Vicetto (RETIRED) Gentoo Infrastructure gentoo-dev 2007-05-31 18:17:36 UTC
Wulf,

wouldn't it be better to mask kpilot-3.5.7 or remove it as dep from kdepim-meta until we have >=pilot-link-0.12 in the tree?
Comment 11 Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-07-15 16:13:53 UTC
I don't think that this should be allowed to hold up the stabilisation of the rest of KDE 3.5.7. It would be nice to fix this but most of us don't use PDAs and this could always be fixed later. I think it is important to stabilise in a timely fashion if possible as there are lots of other fixes in 3.5.7.

Any idea on how long this might take to resolve?
Comment 12 Wulf Krueger (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-07-15 22:50:36 UTC
Well, by now, there's only one Java issue left. I'll see if I can get the Java guys to help me fix it this week.
Comment 13 Carsten Lohrke (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-07-30 18:20:08 UTC
Nah, it's for sure not a blocker wrt. stabilization.
Comment 14 Zac Medico gentoo-dev 2007-09-21 23:23:26 UTC
I've removed this from package.mask since bug 190218 is fixed now.
