Is there a plan to add it to portage anytime soon? Problems?

ebuilds are welcome. they are a pain to write for web apps. Otherwise, I can only get to it when I get time. :T

wordpress-2.1.ebuild (at least an attempt)

Well... I tried - and on my box it worked without any problem. I just changed the URL and some other very minor things in the ebuild of version 2.0.7.

As I have nearly no experience with writing ebuilds, I'm quite sure there is room for improvement, so please experienced guys, go ahead! :)

One thing I don't get yet - how does the distfile come to the gentoo mirror? Right now it's not there, so I hard-coded the http://wordpress.org/... URI, but I'm sure they won't be too happy about that. Thanks for any clarification.

Regards, Patrick.

Good grief. Of course it never occurred to me to just version bump the ebuild. Thanks Patrick, I'll try that.

The reason we are mirroring it is because wordpress is still working on getting archives hosted. Right now you can only download and always download the latest as latest.zip. I've been talking with upstream about the issue and getting md5 hashes from them too, but I can't remember where we are at with that. I believe they had something setup, either way I can't remember the URL off the top of my head.

It seemed they listened to you, at least I get the archive at http://wordpress.org/wordpress-2.0.7.tar.gz, just like I specified the URI in the new ebuild. lastest.zip and latest.tar.gz does also work.

2.1 in CVS tree, but package masked for now -- needs testing. Please check it out if you get a chance, and file any bugs.

Thanks to Jesus and Patrick for keeping me on my toes.
