Always getting "Cannot prelink against non-PIC shared library /usr/kde/3.5/lib/libname.so.1"-error when prelinking kde First I've added prelink to /etc/make.conf FEATURES and tried "prelink -amR" which resulted in a lot of non-PIC-library errors for the kdelibs Then I made CFLAGS="-fPIC $CFLAGS" emerge kdelibs". prelinking produced again a lot of nonPIC-errors. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.emerge kdelibs 2.prelink -amR 3. Created attachment 107724 [details] emerge log of the kdelibs
(In reply to comment #1) > > *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 105942 *** > I am not sure about this. Have a look at at the emerge log. There you can see, that I use the -fPIC for compiling. But when prelinking I get only non-PIC errors for the kdelibs. (I reopend the bug in case, it is not a duplicate. If it is one, I am sorry for waisting your time)
I can't look at the log as it's completely unreadable. Anyway, prelink doesn't work w/ KDE, we know about it, noone's maintaining prelink and noone's working on it, look for prelink alternatives instead. End of story, sorry. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 105942 ***
