The firebird ebuild is out of date, there is a updated 1.2 classic version
which
has 64bit file I/O fixed along with some other bug fixes.

What is stable version of the newest version of firebird?
1.0.2?

At the moment, version 1.0.2.908 is considered the stable version. There is no
ebuild for this version. I'd also appreciate if the SuperServer version would
be preferred (if you're not making both).

Commited a new ebuild which should resolve  
the issue (and fix other bugs as well) - firebird-1.0.3  
  
Currentley marked unstable (~x86) please help testing it.
