The newest version 11.84 was recently released.

Renaming the 11.83 ebuild was sufficient for me, but the patch removing Xemacs configure checks needed to be updated.  Please find this updated version attached.

Thanks for the patch, bumped in CVS; but please wait a bit before filing zero day requests...I usually read the mailing list of AUCTeX.
You know, God kills a kitten for every zero-day bug. :)
