Description Aefron 2007-01-11 18:39:16 UTC
Following the unmask of the getting-tiring firefox in its ugly 2.0 version, I have not been able to stay with my NuoveXT theme without breaking my desktop appearance...

So I had to try something else and gave a shot to Tango... but it didn't compile, complaining that it missed something to generate the different png icon sizes, which should be done using Imagemagick to generate these from the svg ones...

The problem was that my imagemagick lacked the png flag (this install is quite recent, I must confess)... with it enabled, everything got well...

So, could it be possible for this ebuild to require imagemagick with the png flag activated,as a dependency or at least give a warning about what may happen?

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1.try to install x11-themes/tango-icon-theme without imagemagick having the png flag enabled...

Actual Results:
With this, the compilation fails (I could give the emerge --info, but I guess it is not that relevant in that case)...

Expected Results:
The ebuild should have activated the png use flag in imagemagick (I haven't made an ebuild yet, so I am not sure it is possible), or at least give a warning in portage logs...

This bug happens in stable versions such as 0.7.2 too. Please fix them.

So you suggest touching stable ebuild instead of waiting few weeks and requesting 0.8.0 be stabilized, like I have planned even before reopening this.. ?
Comment 5 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2007-02-23 14:29:05 UTC
Because of Comment #3 and reopening, and because I don't feel like editing stable ebuilds..

I'm letting arch teams decide should 0.8.0 go to stable yet or not, it's been in tree only for few days but is only an icon-theme so it should be fine. It includes a fix to this bug; but it's a small one so I'm perfectly fine if you decide to not mark it stable yet.

I'm usually reluctant to update stable ebuilds too but with this kind of bug (adding new dependencies) I don't think it's likely to break. The decision is up to you though.

0.8.0 stable on ppc64 (this are only icons, eh ^^)
Comment 8 Markus Meier gentoo-dev 2007-02-24 12:33:22 UTC
x86 also needs x11-misc/icon-naming-utils-0.8.2 stable.

x11-misc/icon-naming-utils-0.8.2
1. emerges
2. passes collision test

x11-themes/tango-icon-theme-0.8.0 USE="png"
1. emerges
2. passes collision test
3. works
