Created attachment 103160 [details] My .config to recreate the bug.
Kindly review http://bugs.gentoo.org/page.cgi?id=fields.html#bug_severity
Thanks - my first bug report and I read 'blocked' as couldn't build.
Can you try it with gcc-4.1? If that doesn't help, try a newer binutils from the testing tree.
Building with version 4.1.1 of gcc appears to have fixed this issue and allowed the build to continue (until I hit http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=156705). I guess its time to upgrade the system. Should this be marked as fixed then?
No, we also need to be compatible with 3.4
Fixed in gentoo-sources-2.6.19-r5
