Description:   Opened: 2006-11-16 09:33 0000
Please stabilize cups-1.2.6 on x86 arch.

It has no open bugs.

Thanks

------- Comment #1 From Stefan Schweizer 2006-11-16 09:40:47 0000 -------
right, I need some extensive arch testing being done on this. Upgrade path from
1.1 needs to work fine. First the popular arches. If it works the others will
also be stabilized.

------- Comment #2 From Markus Meier 2006-11-16 14:33:51 0000 -------
for x86 we also need the following packages stable:
=x11-misc/xdg-utils-1.0
=app-text/libpaper-1.1.20

x11-misc/xdg-utils-1.0:
1. emerges on x86
2. passes collision test

app-text/libpaper-1.1.20:
1. emerges on x86
2. passes collision test

net-print/cups-1.2.6 USE="X dbus jpeg nls pam png ppds samba ssl tiff -php
-slp"
1. emerges on x86
2. passes collision test
3. configuring an USB printer over the http interface is no problem - and it
works
4. kcontrol has some problems with adding a new printer. rebuilding kdelibs (as
 warned by the ebuild) will report if the problems remain

 Works like a charm for some days now...x86 is done.

------- Comment #5 From Jie Luo 2006-11-23 08:17:12 0000 -------
This is part of cups-1.2.6.ebuild.

PDEPEND="
        ppds? ( || (
                (
                        net-print/foomatic-filters-ppds

                )

                net-print/foomatic-db-ppds
                net-print/hplip
                media-gfx/gimp-print
                net-print/foo2zjs
                net-print/cups-pdf
        ) )

Why should net-print/foomatic-filters-ppds and net-print/foomatic-db-ppds being
used twice in the RDEPEND list. Thanks in advance.

------- Comment #6 From Stefan Schweizer 2006-11-25 02:33:33 0000 -------
Because one of those alone can satisfy the dependency. But when the user has no
clue wht driver he will be using (ie when he has not emerged one himself) he
will get both the biggest for greater choice.
