We are calling eautoreconf in src_compile, which include a call to automake.
In that case we need gnome-common and gnome-doc-utils in DEPEND, as m4 macros shipped by them are used, without them shipped with eog sources.
It appears as if gnome-doc-utils.make is included in the tarball, but gnome-doc-utils.m4 - gnome-doc-utils.make refers to ENABLE_SK, but that is declared with AM_CONDITIONAL through a gnome-doc-utils.m4 macro, so it isn't seen and such an interesting failure output happens.

This problem can only happen if gnome-doc-utils wasn't installed - so if you DID have it installed, please state so here as to fix it properly.
I do believe it should work now, so please test eog-2.16.1.1 and reopen if it isn't fixed.

script/output of 'emerge gnome-doc-utils' (required by eog) including errors.

(Please see my reply to comment #1.)

Thank you! I did have gnome-doc-utils installed, an older version: .2 (current = .8). Interestingly, emerge gnome-doc-utils also breaks (script/output including errors now attached to this bug)... so for now I'm unable to test your new eog-2.16.1.1. Probably I should log a new bug. -Mark Hessler

Please do that, but even gnome-doc-utils as old as 0.3.2 should be enough for eog compilation right now. But we should certainly solve issues with newer gnome-doc-utils too in a new bug.
It doesn't work with your current gnome-doc-utils? What full version is that?

Closing this one again then. For comment #4 please a new bug then, if it is still a problem - re-emerging gnome-doc-utils again might be of help, as there have been some fixes to its dependencies at some point.
