Lars: You have QT-4.2.x installed. Which is known not to work with dbus-0.62.
D-Bus up to version 0.62 included their own bindings, versions after that
Trolltech picked up the bindings and they're included in QT-4.2. You need to
downgrade to QT-4.1.x if you want dbus-0.62.

As a side note, arches that haven't marked this stable. Should just consider
looking at the new dbus-1.0.x series.

I updated dbus to version 1.0.2 on my ppc64 machine and ran a revdep-rebuild.
Unfortunatly it breaks on pmount-0.9.9 (current stable one):

pmount-hal.o:(.text+0xc1c): undefined reference to `dbus_connection_disconnect'

pmount-0.9.13 compiles fine. is it OK to mark that version stable, too?

with dbus-1.0.2 on x86, current stable hal (0.5.7-r3) doesn't compile with a
similar error, version 0.5.7.1-r2 and later compiles fine. So I think that
these should go stable too.

So now you have one try to guess why bug 162942 is in the dependency of dbus
stabilisation...and hal 0.5.7.1-r2 went stable on x86 about ten hours ago.

Yes, I didn't see the dep, excuse me.

Hi,
i thought i might mention this. On Amd64 there is no stable dbus-glib and thats
why no version is installed, so this line (as far as i can tell after reading a
bit in the devmanual) in the hal-0.5.7.1-r2 ebuild starts an up-/downgrade
cycle of dbus on my system.

|| ( >=dev-libs/dbus-glib-0.71
                ( <sys-apps/dbus-0.90 >=sys-apps/dbus-0.60 ) )

------- Comment #29 From Doug Goldstein 2007-01-22 02:33:05 0000 -------
Steffen: See bug #157201 and as a direct result bug #1343. Plus, if you install
dbus-1.0.2, then you need dbus-glib as well. It's not an either or thing, read
the depends.

------- Comment #30 From Olivier Crete 2007-01-22 05:16:27 0000 -------
next time, when you have more than one package to stabilize at the same time,
can you make a single clean bug (as in a NEW bug, not reuse an old one) will
all of them clearly listed. It would save arch people a LOT of time and pain.

its amd64 stable now

I'm not sure how to resolve this - on emerge world i get:

[blocks B ] <sys-apps/dbus-0.91 (is blocking sys-apps/dbus-1.0.2)
[ebuild U ] sys-apps/dbus-1.0.2 [0.62-r2]

If i emerge -Cp dbus it tells me that 0.62-r2's about to go away. I can't find
anything that indicates 0.91 is installed or how to get rid of it. Is this
something i did?

I had the same problem: After emerge -C dbus, emerge -avuDN world wanted to
install the two versions :-O (1.0.2 and 0.62). I did the following:

try to run emerge -avuDNt world for knowing what package wants to downgrade
dbus (in my case was muine).

No, it means that all versions of Dbus less than 0.91 block the new version.
0.62-r2 is less than 0.91, therefore it blocks 1.0.2. You should remove 0.62r2
and install 1.0.2 and revdep-rebuild.
