Same problem here. Looks like automake 1.4 was being used. However, if I create an overlay ebuild and change the WANT_AUTOCONF and WANT_AUTOMAKE to specify the version instead of "latest", it works. In the ebuild change WANT_AUTOCONF="latest" WANT_AUTOMAKE="latest" to WANT_AUTOCONF="2.5" WANT_AUTOMAKE="1.9" So, something must have changed such that "latest" is no longer interpreted correctly.
