The build process spews many warnings, but fatal is this (running in 32bit
chroot on amd64) as it misdetects 64bit and also shows some bad error handling:

Thanks for pointing this out. I will probably bump singular
to the latest release over the next couple of days and will
try to take care of this issue in the process.

I've just committed a new version (3.0.2.1) to portage which
should fix your problems I think. Please give it a try once it hits
the mirrors and report back.
