sys-kernel/linux-headers-2.6.18 has been released on 2006-09-20.

Anything specific that's needed from .18? You only need new headers when you
know you need new headers :)

------- Comment #2 From James Cloos 2006-10-05 12:53:26 0000 -------
David's release of kernel-headers 2.6.19-rc1 is now out.

One important difference for those using recent git kernels, including the
19-rc1 release, is the new ntpv4-style interface for ntpd, rather than the
ntpv3 style interface used up through the 2.6.18 release. (Among other
advantages, when compiled against the new headers and run w/ a matching kernel
ntpd can edit the TOD to ns resolution rather than just ms resolution.)

Other improvements also exist.

Given that glibc 2.5 is also out, the new headers should get added to portage
sooner rather than later.

The headers ebuild should also now grab David's kernel-headers release rather
than getting the headers directly from a kernel tar. This will save a
tremendous amount of download bandwidth, especially for those of use who do not
use portage for kernels. (Git works much better than emerge ever could for
managing one's kernels....)

I don't think I can change the URL or Summary; the new headers tar is at:

http://www.kernel.org/pub/linux/kernel/people/dwmw2/kernel-headers/snapshot/linux-kernel-headers-2.6.19-rc1.tar.bz2

(or ftp://ftp...; or rsync://rsync...)

(Non -rc releases will of course be one directory up from there.)
