The version of the stable branch has been released. 
It supports avifile 0.7.25 and fixes some other problems. 
0.6.3 works fine here, ebuild-changes are simple

Is there any reason why transcode hasn't been updated yet? 
Would be a good idea, since the new dvd::rip version (#15554) uses many of the new features.

This is a necessary ebuild, because transcode 0.6.2 requires avifile < 0.7.22 but after this is emerged portage wants to update to 0.7.32 again and then downgrade to 0.7.22 because of transcode 0.6.2 and so on. The new ebuild would fix this issue.

transcode-0.6.3.20030116-r1 uses the same sources from what i can tell - maybe a simple rename would be enough?

Yes, renaming should be enough, the avifile dependency is also correct.

Committed. I'll close this bug (i'm kinda swamped with bugs). Reopen it on need.
