I have tested it with my amd64-gentoo-php-sqlite-smarty website, works fine.
IMHO, updates that address security-related bugs should be made stable more
quickly; otherwise websites that critically depend on smarty functionality
should keyword everything than wait 4 months for things to stabilize.
