1.4.4 works, I did not open a bug on this but for 1.4.3 and I did not write the
call stack by hand but maybe it's a special situation only for me. So either
stabilize 1.4.4 or ask further questions so I can give you more information.

Any issue w/ stabilizing 1.4.4? Been in portage for ages and no bugs reported.

Nope, works fine but I think «being in portage for ages» is a heavy weighting
argument to make it stable instead of ~x86 (and not everybody wants to accept
all keywords or has the expert's knowledge 'bout what to unmask where and when
and how and why). Basically: emerge <application> -> Works or Sucks

1.4.4 works here on stable x86. It starts up but I have no jackd running so I
am not able to test it further.
