Since, after over a year, I still cannot build ant-core-1.6.2, which is still supposedly the stable version, I thought I should report my *success* with 1.6.5 in case that would help getting it marked stable any time soon. :) Details: nenene ~ # java-config -L *) IBM JDK 1.4.2.6 [ibm-jdk-bin-1.4] (/usr/share/java-config-2/vm/ibm-jdk-bin-1.4) nenene ~ # emerge --info Portage 2.1.1 (default-linux/ppc/ppc32/2006.1/G4, gcc-4.1.1, glibc-2.4-r3, 2.6.17-gentoo-r7 ppc) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.17-gentoo-r7 ppc 7400, altivec supported Gentoo Base System version 1.12.5 Last Sync: Thu, 14 Sep 2006 13:50:01 +0000 distcc 2.18.3 powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [enabled] ccache version 2.3 [enabled] app-admin/eselect-compiler: [Not Present] dev-lang/python: 2.4.3-r1 dev-python/pycrypto: 2.0.1-r5 dev-util/ccache: 2.3 dev-util/confcache: [Not Present] sys-apps/sandbox: 1.2.17 sys-devel/autoconf: 2.13, 2.59-r7 sys-devel/automake: 1.4_p6, 1.5, 1.6.3, 1.7.9-r1, 1.8.5-r3, 1.9.6-r2 sys-devel/binutils: 2.16.1-r3 sys-devel/gcc-config: 1.3.13-r3 sys-devel/libtool: 1.5.22 virtual/os-headers: 2.6.16 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="ppc" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CBUILD="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu" CFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=G4 -pipe -maltivec -mabi=altivec -mpowerpc-gfxopt" CHOST="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/kde/3.5/env /usr/kde/3.5/share/config /usr/kde/3.5/shutdown /usr/share/X11/xkb /usr/share/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/env.d /etc/env.d/java/ /etc/gconf /etc/java-config/vms/ /etc/revdep-rebuild /etc/terminfo" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -mcpu=G4 -pipe -maltivec -mabi=altivec -mpowerpc-gfxopt" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoconfig ccache distcc distlocks metadata-transfer sandbox sfperms strict userpriv usersandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://mirror.datapipe.net/gentoo http://www.gtlib.gatech.edu/pub/gentoo http://open-systems.ufl.edu/mirrors/gentoo http://gentoo.cites.uiuc.edu/pub/gentoo/" LC_ALL="en_US.UTF-8" LINGUAS="en en_US" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/mnt/cdrom" PORTAGE_RSYNC_OPTS="--recursive --links --safe-links --perms --times --compress --force --whole-file --delete --delete-after --stats --timeout=180 --exclude='/distfiles' --exclude='/local' --exclude='/packages'" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.namerica.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="ppc X a52 aac addbookmarks aim alsa altivec apache2 arts berkdb bitmap-fonts bonobo cdr cli crypt css dlloader dri dvd dvdr eds elibc_glibc encode firefox flac gdbm gif gimpprint gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml hal icq idn input_devices_evdev input_devices_joystick input_devices_keyboard input_devices_mouse irc jabber java javascript jbig jikes joystick jpeg jpeg2k kde kdexdeltas kernel_linux ldap libg++ libwww linguas_en linguas_en_US mad mp3 mpeg ncurses nptl nptlonly nsplugin ogg opengl pam pcre pdf perl png python qt qt3 quicktime readline reflection rtc session spell ssl tcpd truetype truetype-fonts type1-fonts udev unicode userland_GNU userlocales video_cards_r128 vorbis xml xorg xpm xv xvid yahoo zlib" Unset: CTARGET, EMERGE_DEFAULT_OPTS, INSTALL_MASK, LANG, LDFLAGS, PORTAGE_RSYNC_EXTRA_OPTS And, just in case it helps (since locale seems to play a part in some other ant-related bugs): nenene ~ # locale LANG= LC_CTYPE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_NUMERIC="en_US.UTF-8" LC_TIME="en_US.UTF-8" LC_COLLATE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_MONETARY="en_US.UTF-8" LC_MESSAGES="en_US.UTF-8" LC_PAPER="en_US.UTF-8" LC_NAME="en_US.UTF-8" LC_ADDRESS="en_US.UTF-8" LC_TELEPHONE="en_US.UTF-8" LC_MEASUREMENT="en_US.UTF-8" LC_IDENTIFICATION="en_US.UTF-8" LC_ALL=en_US.UTF-8
Java team, is there any reason we should not stabilize ant-core-1.6.5-r2 as the latest generation 1 ebuild?

ant-core-1.6.5-r2 now stable on ppc, thanks for the report!
