lyx cant display embedded graphics that are converted and loaded as xpm files. 
This was reported on lyx-dev mailing list. After updating to 
xforms-1.0-release the bug is no longer. ebuild attached.

added the update to portage. I set ~x86 ~ppc and ~sparc keywords as it needs more testing before it can be placed into stable.

Please test this with lyx and post your results on this bug so I can move it to x86 keywords

Tested and working ok. Suggest making this stable asap and removing the rcx 
ebuilds because portage wants to upgrade to them.
