Description:   Opened: 2006-09-08 14:13 0000
Arch teams, please test 2.1.1 and mark it stable. See bug 136244 for a list of
bugs fixed since the 2.1 release. In order to prevent users from being
confused, I've added a note in the ChangeLog and an ewarn in the ebuild
regarding emerge --newuse sensivity to IUSE changes.

NEWS
* Profiles support use.force, package.use.force, and package.use.mask files.

RELEASE-NOTES
* emerge --search doesn't use regular expressions now anymore by default, so
emerge --search dvd+rw-tools now works as expected. Regular expressions can
be enabled
by prefixing the search string with %.
* emerge --depclean algorithm is much safer than the old one.
* emerge --newuse detects changes in IUSE that previously went undetected.

2) passes collision-protect
3) works great :)

I think you should add a reference to bug #144661 in the ewarn.

Any reason to push this to stable right after releasing it and not wait for the
usual month?

*portage-2.1.1 (08 Sep 2006)

  08 Sep 2006; Zac Medico <zmedico@gentoo.org> +portage-2.1.1.ebuild:
2.1.1 final release. Please note that emerge --newuse is now sensitive to
changes in IUSE. Immediately after upgrade from 2.1, users may notice a
significantly larger number of packages pulled in by --newuse, but that
  behavior is normal.

------- Comment #5 From Christian Faulhammer 2006-09-09 04:15:19 0000 -------
1) please give category in summary
2) emerges fine
3) passes collision test
4) works: emerged with different FEATURES, packages etc.(nice colours!)
5) and before someone asks: Yes I used 2.1.1, although my --info shows 2.1-r2

Though 2.1.1 has only recently been finalized, all of the changes have had
constant testing in ~arch releases, so I'm confident that it can safely be
marked stable now (otherwise I wouldn't have finalized it). That said, I don't
want the arch teams to feel that I'm pressuring them to stablilize this
prematurely. Please take as much time as necessary to verify it's stability.

Good idea. I've added references to all related bugs (#116955, #144333,
#144661, and #146060) in both the ewarn and the ChangeLog.
