Boom, that did it. Curiously it showed all of them as rebuild, so I won't pretend I can explain this one.

Thanks!!

Didn't work for me, launching the command as it is here...

Sorry, wrong ebuild... It didn't work for me on dillo-0.8.5-r3...

Comment 6 Ed Catmur 2006-09-11 09:44:31 UTC
The problem is that aclocal is using the (ac_aux_dir buggy) AM_MKINSTALLDIRS from gettext.m4 instead of nls.m4. This only happens half the time; it seems random as to which it uses.

I can confirm the bug on ~amd64.

on src_unpack:

>>> Unpacking dillo-0.8.6-i18n-misc-20060625.diff.bz2 to /var/tmp/portage/dillo-0.8.6/work
 * Applying dillo-0.8.6-i18n-misc-20060625.diff ...
  [ ok ]
 * Applying dillo-asneeded.patch ...
  [ ok ]
aclocal         found
autoheader      found
autoconf        found
automake        found
[Checks passed]
Generating...
aclocal: macro `AM_PROG_MKDIR_P' required but not defined
aclocal: macro `AM_PROG_MKDIR_P' required but not defined

on my log after the configure script finished I can see:

cd . && /bin/sh /var/tmp/portage/dillo-0.8.6/work/dillo-0.8.6/missing --run aclocal-1.7 -I m4
cd . && \
          /bin/sh /var/tmp/portage/dillo-0.8.6/work/dillo-0.8.6/missing --run automake-1.7 --gnu  Makefile
cd . && /bin/sh /var/tmp/portage/dillo-0.8.6/work/dillo-0.8.6/missing --run autoconf
/bin/sh ./config.status --recheck

it seems that auto tools files for dillo are quite broken.
Comment 9 Ferris McCormick (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-09-13 13:01:29 UTC
What is this an error against? For me, on both sparc and amd64, I have
 Wed Aug  3 11:19:29 2005 >>> www-client/dillo-0.8.5-r1
 Mon Oct 31 12:46:03 2005 >>> www-client/dillo-0.8.5-r2
 Sat Mar 25 15:08:24 2006 >>> www-client/dillo-0.8.5-r3
 Mon Sep 11 11:45:01 2006 >>> www-client/dillo-0.8.6
 Wed Sep 13 19:52:55 2006 >>> www-client/dillo-0.8.6

without any problems.
(Well, amd64 starts with Thu Mar 16 18:09:13 2006 >>> www-client/dillo-0.8.5-r2)

I see that sparc is CC on it, but don't know what to make of it, and certainly don't know how to duplicate it.
Comment 10 Ed Catmur 2006-09-13 14:02:22 UTC
As explained in comment 6 this will appear randomly, depending on whether aclocal takes AM_MKINSTALLDIRS from m4/nls.m4 (OK) or m4/gettext.m4 (broken). Thus some hosts will not see the bug.

Well, I have a 100% failure. The patch you proposed does not work, either, on dillo-0.8.6.

Thanks again.
Comment 12 Emiliano Vavassori 2006-09-20 15:19:05 UTC
Sorry for bothering, but I'm not an autotool guru. Is there a fix for the broken AM_MKINSTALLDIRS (taking it from nls.m4 instead of gettext.m4)? Where must I search to find some extra information on how to solve this?

I've tried re-emerging gettext and automake-wrapper, after all versions of automake, but the problem didn't solve.

Thanks in advance.
Comment 13 Emiliano Vavassori 2006-09-21 12:03:41 UTC
I'm sorry, using with more attention Catmour's patch solves the problem for me.

Thanks.
