Description:   Opened: 2006-08-17 12:31 0000
As the summary said, some radeon video cards (at least my FireGL) need the Xorg
Option MonitorLayout set to something like the following:

        Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS, NONE"

Otherwise Xorg will only show 640x480 regardless anything the mkxf86config
script is recognizing (resolution wise).

Another solution would be to fix the radeon driver to get the right
MonitorLayout (which is way out of the 2006.1 release window).

Everything is way out of the release window at this point.

Anyway, do you know of a way to determine which cards need this and which
don't? Can it be determined from lspci output?

------- Comment #2 From Christian Heim (RETIRED) 2006-08-27 10:04:09 0000 -------
Nope, absolutly no clue which card requires this and which not. Guess it needs
some deeper analysis. Feel free to close it LATER/WONTFIX.

I can confirm this bug for ATI Radeon Mobility M7 LW [Radeon Mobility 7500]
using xorg driver "ati".

Thanks for the workaround, Christian!

Christian, do you still have this hardware? I have a newer LiveCD that I've
been working with and wouldn't mind letting you test it so we can see if we can
resolve this.

Christian, can you try booting 2008.0 Beta 1 on your laptop and see if we're
still experiencing this?

I wouldn't mind if you want to try slipping the 6.8 driver in... it's been in
the tree since February 19 and out of p.mask since March 15.

Will the 6.8 driver work w/ xorg-server 1.3?

It should.

Well, I did a double whammy and pulled in the new ATI driver *and* added code
to mkxf86config for this... ;]

Both are updated in the Beta 2 snapshot, so we'll see how it goes.
