When emerging dillo the configure script fails with this error:

However, emerging dillo without --as-needed in LDFLAGs finishes successfully.

It's the famous gtk+-1.* bug (using gtk.m4), the short solution is to append
--disable-gtktest in econf.
It works for all gtk+ programs
