Description:   Opened: 2006-08-16 01:02 0000
layman managed overlay is not listed in /etc/make.conf, but in
/usr/portage/local/layman/make.conf.
However, eix just check /etc/make.conf, don't look at /etc/make.conf.
I made a patch so that eix could see those overlays managed by layman.

Which eix version? This was fixed in 0.5.6, see bug 132874

------- Comment #3 From Stefan Schweizer 2006-08-16 02:31:13 0000 -------
this is because the eix version in stable is outdated.

arch teams: please do your work and mark the new version stable to avoid more
duplicate bugs like this one.

Emerges with no issues. Works great including
/usr/portage/local/layman/make.conf.

1) emerges fine
2) passes collision test
3) passes test suite
4) works, though on my productive system I get textrels with GCC 4.1: Report
further?

eix uses neither direct assembler code nor exports any library.
Maybe some autotool thingy needs fPIC somewhere anyway?
However, scanelf -qt /usr/bin does not report any textrel for one of the 3 eix
programs, neither on x86 nor on amd64 (both compiled with gcc 4.1).

i can confirm this for x86.

Sorry for that.
However, I did search the bugzilla with keywords "eix", but none was found.
So I filed this bug.
Glad to see that this could be the last draw to make it stable on all archs.

If you look at the bug that this was marked as a duplicate of you will see that
eix isn't in the keywords field. It's in the summary field..

------- Comment #13 From Stefan Schweizer 2006-08-16 10:41:31 0000 -------
its sad that users do not understand yet how stabilization bugs work.

Short explanation: This bug stays open until all affected architectures have
had the honor to stick their stable keywords into the fixed ebuild.

What I have done is just searching "eix" in this page http://bugs.gentoo.org/
under "Enter a bug # or some search terms:".
However, I know how to search for a bug now. The sad thing is nobody has
pointed to me this page before http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/bugzilla-howto.xml.
How a new user is supposed to get to know this howto?
