Description Alan Briolat 2006-08-15 14:16:15 UTC
Nmap::Parser is a perl module for parsing the data files from Nmap. Used by some security and pentesting tools.

This is my first attempt at perl module ebuild, but I have followed closely the way all other perl modules are installed, and I believe it's all correct.

Please, review the following and explain why it this ebuild needed in portage:

Thanks.

Well, my original intention was to submit an ebuild for a security/pentesting app (http://pbnj.sourceforge.net/), but it needs this module. The only way I could think of fulfilling the dependancy was with a new ebuild for the perl module, and I still can't see any other way to do it - please enlighten me if there is another way.

Should I submit the ebuild for the pentesting app too and mark it as depending on this bug? I think that having this module may enable ebuilds for other security and pentesting apps not yet in portage to be made easier, and of course without it its not possible to submit my other ebuild.

Yes, please. Otherwise, if nothing depends on it, we prefer people to use g-cpan app to install such stuff, there are already too many perl ebuilds in portage.

I have added a "new ebuild" bug for PBNJ which depends on this modules (#144762), and added the dependancy in the bug tracker.
