Note that there's no longer any possibility of downloading earlier versions of Sun's jre-1.5 as it appears they've discontinued retaining anything except the current version.
The fact there's no download link for 1.5.0.7 on the JSE homepage doesn't mean you can't still download it if you closely follow the instructions (URL) the ebuild gives you if you try to emerge it without having the file in distfiles... I just checked it still works.
They have limited space on dev.java.net, so they generally don't keep things kicking around. Not to mention, everything would get mirrored, so we're cool. Fixed in CVS, so give it a bit to hit your local mirror. Thanks for reporting.
