Could you please try if you have the same problem with sdcc-2.5.0_p20060502 ?

sdcc-2.5.0 has a few issues right now. So if sdcc-2.5.0_p20060502 works for
you, that will be a good opportunity to stabilize it and get rid of sdcc-2.5.0.

I could successfully build both dev-embedded/gputils-0.13.3-r1 (~x86) and
dev-embedded/sdcc-2.5.0_p20060502.
Since I've never used sdcc before, I cannot say anything about whether it
actually works. Didn't find any examples in /usr/share/doc/sdcc-2.5.0_p20060502
that I could run, either.

Good. I'm going to file a bug for stabilization of sdcc-2.5.0_20060502 right
now, then.
