Description:   Opened: 2006-07-22 03:56 0000
Downloaded .kml files can't be opened in Gnome.

They display as kml files until you click on them, then the mime magic kicks in
and they change to xml files, lacking the Google Earth association.

This can be remedied by adding some magic to the googleearth mime file. Patch
to follow.

mime-magic.patch

Some fairly specific magic.

Needs to be applied at install time.

the google devs od the problem?

mime-magic.patch

Sorry, I just discovered that that patch doesn't work with recent .kml files
from Google.

This patch just matches the initial portion of the xmlns - "<kml
xmlns="http://earth.google.com/kml/". It should be quite a bit more robust.

I'm trying to find out how to report bugs now...

Reopened for improved patch (KML version 2.1).

Thanks!

Reported upstream (pity they don't have a bugzilla). I'll post back if/when I
get any reply.
