Description Alan Edwards 2006-07-19 14:29:21 UTC
This bug is similar to #79321 reported on the 2.6.10-r6 kernel.

When I try to connect to the network with kernel 2.6.16-r7 and the via-rhine driver loaded as a module, the system operates as normal and there are no problems. When I try to connect to the network running kernels 2.6.16-r9 and later, with acpi, I get no response. ifconfig
eth0 192.168.0.104 (on LAN) does not come up.

When I run the kernel with acpi=off parameters then the ethernet controller
works fine.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Using via-rhine ethernet controller.
2.Compile the 2.6.16-r9 kernels and later with via-rhine and ACPI.
3.Reboot, try to bring up the ethernet device.
4.Try to connect to anything on the network and no joy.

Actual Results:
Dhcpcd cannot contact dhcp server. Even using a static IP address does not start. Tried using dhcpcd versions 2.0.5 thro 2.0.8, all give the same result.

Expected Results:
Dhcpcd should get an IP off the dhcp server.

Fixed in gentoo-sources-2.6.17-r4

We're still discussing the best way to fix this bug properly. To help us clear up some points, please attach /proc/interrupts from any working kernel.
