Description:   Opened: 2006-07-18 05:37 0000
Nearly a month in portage, and it is needed to push GCC 4.1 stable.

Please cc arches when you feel ready

------- Comment #1 From Benedikt Böhm 2006-07-18 06:20:36 0000 -------
there are currently issues with dietlibc and gc 4.1 on some archs -> LATER

------- Comment #2 From Christian Faulhammer 2006-07-23 23:30:24 0000 -------
Reopen for x86 only (changed summary and cc), because this arch is not affected
by the issues -> cleared out with hollow (thanks again). amd64 has to wait.

Emerges and works fine on partly unstable with GCC 4.1.1.

The protocol as usual for stable chroot

1) emerges fine so far, we have some execstacks...d'ya wanna hav' da log?

QA Notice: the following files contain executable stacks
Files with executable stacks will not work properly (or at all!)
on some architectures/operating systems. A bug should be filed
at http://bugs.gentoo.org/ to make sure the file is fixed.
 For more information, see http://hardened.gentoo.org/gnu-stack.xml
Please include this file in your report:
 /var/tmp/portage/dietlibc-0.30/temp/scanelf-execstack.log
"RWX --- --- usr/bin/diet"
"RWX --- --- usr/bin/dnsd"
"RWX --- --- usr/bin/elftrunc"
"!WX --- --- usr/diet/lib-i386/start.o

2) passes collision test
3) util-vserver emerges fine on it and seems to run

So... do we do this on amd64/ppc/x86 or no? Those are the only architectures
that are planning on GCC 4.1.1 stable (either already or shortly)...

------- Comment #5 From Benedikt Böhm 2006-08-12 00:41:43 0000 -------
dietlibc-0.30 is broken on amd64, see bug #138468
