Description:   Opened: 2003-01-12 16:12 0000
In some distributions of gnome-terminal that I have used, a space (" ") is
automatically added after a URL when it is drag'n'dropped into gnome-terminal
from a web browser. This behavior allows the user to quickly drag and drop
multiple links from a browser to a terminal (for, say, wgetting) without having
to alter focus and insert the space by hand. It would be great if this were the
default behavior for gentoo gnome-terminal. I'll attach a trivial patch to make
it so.

Patch to add a space after drag/dropped URLs

have you reported this patch upstream ? if so, what is the bugno ?

------- Comment #3 From foser (RETIRED) 2003-01-25 18:02:05 0000 -------
if i add the patch i still don't see the behaviour you mention (only tested
with
galeon2).

------- Comment #4 From Zach Bagnall 2003-01-27 02:52:15 0000 -------
Did you close all gnome-terminal windows, then start it again? The patch was
immediately effective for me. Tested with phoenix and mozilla.

I haven't reported it upstream as it is non-default behavior - not a bug. It is
just a nice feature to have.

yeah i know i need to close all the windows, but no it doesn't work for me. not
with mozilla or galeon.

And well, you could file it as a feature request upstream, see what gets done
with it.

Same feature; diff against gnome-terminal 2.2.1

Just an update for Gnome 2.2.

------- Comment #7 From foser (RETIRED) 2003-04-10 08:21:50 0000 -------
what exactly do i have to do to trigger this ? i have the patch, but if i drag
say a URL from the locationbar in epiphany/galeon/mozilla , nothing happens.
What is a clear defined case in which this should work ?

------- Comment #8 From foser (RETIRED) 2003-05-14 08:54:16 0000 -------
i'm willing to put this in, but i need some feedback here.

------- Comment #9 From Zach Bagnall 2003-05-15 03:07:40 0000 -------
Pretty much as described.

Open a browser like phoenix.
Open a gnome-terminal.
Click/drag a hyperlink from the browser to the terminal.

Unpatched, the URL will be pasted to the terminal.
Patched, the URL is pasted AND followed by a single space.

Thanks.

hmm right it does work now, must've done something wrong all the time. Patch
added to 2.2.1-r1 , see how it goes.
