didn't noticed it was stable on some arches, sorry. Please stabilize on amd64

stable on amd64. Leaving bug open in case the desktop-misc team want to add
other archs.

Adding alpha, hppa, ia64 and mips.

No regressions seen over 4.23-r1.  Tested on alpha with the following USE flags
and emerge --info:
