Lukasz, the warnings that are posted are not what is causing this build to
fail. I can't repeat this here (gcc 4.1.1), it merges fine for me, but we will
need you to attempt to build this package again and post any errors that would
have happened prior to the warnings you posted in the initial bug.
Thanks!

                                  IMPORTANT
===============================================================================
Before going any further, check
   http://math-atlas.sourceforge.net/errata.html
This is the ATLAS errata file, which keeps a running count of all known
ATLAS bugs and system problems, with associated workarounds or fixes.
IF YOU DO NOT CHECK THIS FILE, YOU MAY BE COMPILING A LIBRARY WITH KNOWN BUGS.

Have you scoped the errata file? [y]:
Configure will ask a series of questions, in one of two forms. The first form
of question is a menu of choices. One option in almost all menus is
'Other/UNKNOWN'. If you are unsure of the answer, always choose this option.
The second form of question is a single line, with a default answer shown in
square braces. If you hit return without typing anything, this default answer
will be used. Again, if you are unsure of the answer, simply accept the
default.

ATLAS can detect almost everything it needs to know, so choosing the default
or 'Other/UNKNOWN' will at worst simply extend the install time (if you tell
config the answer to something ATLAS can skip some tests).

Configure makes no changes to the state of things until all questions have
been asked and answered. Therefore, if you get confused and want to start
over, feel free to break out of this program (CTRL-C, CTRL-BREAK, etc)
and start again. Alternatively, if you make a mistake you can finish the
configure process, and then edit the created make include file by hand to fix
the mistake manually (the name and location of this file will be printed
out at the end of configure).

If you have problems during configure or installation, consult the file
'ATLAS/doc/TroubleShoot.txt'.

Ahh. I have checked that "gcc archinfo_x86.c" works even if with warnings.
Sorry for misleading information. I'll try to lower CXXFLAGS and see if that
helps.

I have lowered flags to:

CFLAGS="-march=k8 -mtune=athlon64 -O1"
CXXFLAGS="${CFLAGS}"

and it still fails.

------- Comment #10 From Alexandre Buisse (RETIRED) 2006-07-31 02:02:04 0000 -------
After looking a bit at the code, it looks like it isn't a failure at all but a
dirty hack in the Makefile. archinfo_x86.c exits with a code corresponding to
the architecture (21 in my case), which is then grabbed by other parts of the
Makefile, I guess. That also explains why there is no problem when run
manually.
Maybe one should consider removing the "|| die" part of the ebuild.

------- Comment #11 From Ryan May 2006-10-04 05:41:39 0000 -------
I just got bit by this one as well, with the exact same output as comment#4.
I'm running an athlon64-X2 (Turion TL-50)

It seems like the system autodetection breaks the build on certain machines.
Anyone have a clue as to why this is?

------- Comment #12 From Markus Dittrich 2006-10-04 05:52:28 0000 -------
Much of this should hopefully be fixed in 3.7.17 which you might want to
try instead; it is currently masked but should work fine.

Best,
Markus

Same here, and mine's not even a fancy ADM64, but an old Duron 1GHz. Same
error message.

--info follows (neither getting rid of the CFLAGS nor going interactive help)

We should probably go for the latest 3.7.30 since it seems to work
pretty well for most people.

I'll file the bug as soon as verizon manages to re-vive my DSL line
hopefully by next weekend.

Thanks! Could you please file a separate bug for

Otherwise we will have a hard time keeping tracks
of problems for the different versions.

Same error here with amd64 using Pentium D 945, as in comment #4 except one
error number changes to
