***** Problem *****

qtparted seems to require libparted-1.6.so.14 but the only versions installed
are:

slocate libparted
/usr/lib64/libparted.a
/usr/lib64/libparted-1.7.so.0.0.0
/usr/lib64/libparted.la
/usr/lib64/libparted.so
/usr/lib64/libparted-1.7.so.0

------- Comment #1 From Karel De Vriendt 2006-05-22 11:09:40 0000 -------
Further investigation: I have parted-1.7.0 installed and that installs
libparted-1.7.so.0 where qtparted still seems to expect an earlier version (but
the ebuild states that any version >=sys-apps/parted-1.6.7 should work.

------- Comment #2 From Per Osbeck 2006-05-24 00:53:49 0000 -------
seems like parted 1.7.x will be supported in 0.4.6 (not supported in 0.4.5)

* 0.4.x (not yet released)
  - Support parted 1.7.x

looks like it was added to cvs 7 weeks ago or so..

------- Comment #3 From Bo Ørsted Andresen (RETIRED) 2006-05-28 16:12:00 0000 -------
When running parted 1.7.0 I run into this bug too. When downgrading to 1.6.25
qtparted succeeds. Therefore I think qtparted 0.4.4* should depend on
<parted-1.7.0 .

Please try the new qtparted-0.4.5, see if the problem persists, and report back
here (and re-open the bug).

Do you mean manually or is there an ebuild available somewhere?

------- Comment #11 From Kevin F. Quinn (RETIRED) 2006-08-10 07:15:14 0000 -------
Ebuild should be in portage; sync up to see it.

# emerge -v qtparted &> qtparted.log

I do have sys-apps/parted-1.7.1-r1. I also tried with MAKEOPTS=-j1 which
changed exactly nothing (except removing the "make[2]: *** Waiting for
unfinished jobs...."). Setting USE="-*" didn't change much either

------- Comment #13 From Bo Ørsted Andresen (RETIRED) 2006-08-10 09:21:10 0000 -------
qtparted-0.4.5 does still compile successfully with parted-1.6.25. I guess
parted-1.7* won't be available until qtparted-0.4.6 as was suggested in comment
2. Also just for completeness:

ok; compared 0.4.5 with current CVS, turned out to be a trivial thing to fix so
I've patched the change into 0.4.5. re-sync in a couple of hours (it should
include a new patch) and try against parted-1.7.

Only thing I've noticed so far is that parted doesn't like the version of
libreiserfs that we have (from progsreiserfs-0.3.1-rc8). However that's not
the fault of qtparted; progsreiserfs needs to be slotted.

It compiles without a problem with that patch. :) Even with the reiserfs flag
enabled. When it is started it prints, just like you said, this:

"Warning: GNU Parted has detected libreiserfs interface version mismatch.
Found 1-1, required 0. ReiserFS support will be disabled."

I also had forgotten that it doesn't understand lvm.. ;) I guess you can close
this bug and mark as fixed. Thanks.

I guess sys-apps/qtparted-0.4.5 should be marked stable now that
sys-apps/parted-1.7.1-r1 is stable.

Marked ppc stable, I needed to mark progsreiserfs as well, tested on a 128MB
ReiserFS with qtparted, seems okay.
