Description Philip Lawatsch 2006-05-03 08:31:47 UTC
Hi,

when trying to emerge atk-1.11.4 it breaks due to some automake / autoconf failure:

config.status: executing depfiles commands
config.status: executing default-1 commands
cd . && \
          /bin/sh /var/tmp/portage/atk-1.11.4/work/atk-1.11.4/missing --run automake-1.7 --gnu Makefile

configure.in:47: but the definition used by this AM_INIT_AUTOMAKE
configure.in:47: comes from Automake 1.7. You should recreate
configure.in:47: aclocal.m4 with aclocal and run automake again.

patch to ebuild

This patch seems to fix it, but a *real* ebuild maintainer should check.

By doing "inherit gnome2" in the ebuild , which it allready has , runs elibtoolize allready.

I don't get the purpose of the patches. Without any patches:

You are right Samuli, but I don't understand why it works when I run elibtoolize two times. By the way I found a better way to make atk work, see my attachment.

Comment 10 John N. Laliberte (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2006-05-07 16:09:43 UTC
i can't reproduce this problem.

can someone attach a full build log and config.log?

thanks.

on a side note:
the reason eautoreconf fails for some is because some macros are included that are not re-included ( gtk-doc ones ). You can work around this by doing cp aclocal.m4 old_macros.m4 AT_M4DIR="." eautoreconf.
( and remember to include any other macro directories in the project, usually labeled 'm4', so in that case the call would be AT_M4DIR=". m4" eautoreconf )
this does not work in all cases, but in most it does. if you are interested in further cases, join #gentoo-desktop :)

if someone could report back and let us know if the fix worked.
( other than G0su since he helped us solve the issue :) )

thanks!
