As reported by media-sound/easytag, id3lib currently has a bug when writing
certain unicode characters.

It would be nice if this patch was included in Portage.

patched ebuild

This is the patched ebuild.
It uses the preceding patch named as files/id3lib-3.8.3-utf8.patch

It works for me (both compiling and using with easytag).

Works for me too. Since id3lib dosen't seem to be actively developed anymore
and source in cvs is several years old it would be good to bring this (and
possibly few other bugfixes posted on id3lib page) onto gentoo ebuild.

I posted a mail on the devel mailong list that is waiting for approval for
about a week now and still no sign of life from them.

Please release a new ebuild that we can push to stable.

We need unicode support in id3lib, at least Easytag is using it and affected by
this bug.

So, archteams please stabilize media-libs/id3lib-3.8.3-r5 for unicode support.

sparc stable, though Rej is right, FEATURES=test does some ugly stuff so i
suggest you just RESTRICT=test or fix the testsuite.
