Yet all of the snapshot ebuilds have SRC_URI="mirror://mplayer/releases/${P}.tar.bz2 Did they take the files down or something?
Download just fine from Gentoo mirrors.
I can now (though I couldn't for 6 or 7 hours, some of the mirrors seemed to have corrupt copies of the file) Surely it should be possible to download the file from the place listed in SRC_URI though? *shrug*

If it's a CVS snapshot put on the Gentoo mirrors, why not put mirror://gentoo/blah in SRC_URI? To the best of my knowledge, a 404 in SRC_URI is always a bug.
