When emerging x2x-1.27-r2 it failed with the following error:

i emerged rman manually, then re-emerged x2x and now it works fine.

so rman should be added as a dependancy in the ebuild of x2x.

indeed it's already in the ebuild. not sure why it wasn't emerged automatically
when emerging x2x.

i've unmerged x2x, and rman, and verified the problem still there if i emerge
x2x, it fails on rman not found.

Because of the darned virtual... :S

HPPA and PPC64 guys, please keyword rman so I can add this to the virtual. It
was formerly provided in the monolith.
