Description Alexander Skwar 2006-04-07 04:21:31 UTC
I compiled rsync with the following flags:

[13:13:02 vz6tml@dewup-ww02:/data/vmware/Virtual Machines] $ emerge -vpt rsync

These are the packages that would be merged, in reverse order:

Calculating dependencies... done!
[ebuild   R   ] net-misc/rsync-2.6.7  USE="acl xinetd -build -ipv6 -static" 0 kB

But when I try to use ACLs, I get:

[13:12:59 vz6tml@dewup-ww02:/data/vmware/Virtual Machines] $ rsync --acls
rsync: ACLs are not supported on this client
rsync error: syntax or usage error (code 1) at main.c(1231) [client]

During compilation I saw:

>>> Unpacking rsync-2.6.7.tar.gz to /Gentoo/portage/tmp/portage/rsync-2.6.7/work
 * Applying acls.diff ...                                                                                             [ ok ]
 * Applying xattrs.diff ...                                                                                           [ ok ]

Why don't I have support for ACLs?

because they changed the option from '--with-acl-support' to '--enable-acl-support' starting in 2.6.7 but the ebuild wasnt updated
