it looks like you also need to add

media-plugins/gst-plugins-x-0.10.4

to the list

------- Comment #3 From Patrick McLean 2006-04-05 09:18:47 0000 -------
Also going to need these:

------- Comment #4 From Patrick McLean 2006-04-05 09:38:53 0000 -------

I came across something today that I find odd with gstreamer/gst-plugins on my
x86 based box. During an "emerge -uDp world" there were some new packages I
didn't recognize so I did an "emerge -uDpt world". The packages I didn't
recognize appeared under gst-plugins-esd:

Calculating world dependencies ..... ...done!
[ebuild NS ] kde-base/kdelibs-3.5.2-r6
[nomerge ] gnome-base/gnome-2.12.3
[ebuild U ] app-text/evince-0.5.1 [0.4.0-r3]
[ebuild U ] app-text/poppler-bindings-0.5.1-r1 [0.5.0]
[nomerge ] media-video/ffmpeg-0.4.9_p20051216
[ebuild N ] media-libs/faad2-2.0-r11
[ebuild N ] media-libs/libmp4v2-1.4.1
[nomerge ] media-plugins/gst-plugins-esd-0.8.11
[ebuild NS ] app-crypt/gnupg-1.9.20-r3
[ebuild N ] dev-libs/libassuan-0.6.10
[ebuild N ] dev-libs/pth-1.4.0
[ebuild N ] dev-libs/libksba-0.9.13
[nomerge ] net-print/hplip-0.9.8-r2
[nomerge ] dev-python/PyQt-3.14.1-r1
[nomerge ] dev-python/sip-4.2.1
[ebuild NS ] x11-libs/qt-4.1.2
[nomerge ] net-fs/samba-3.0.22
[nomerge ] dev-libs/popt-1.7-r1
[nomerge ] net-print/cups-1.1.23-r7
[ebuild U ] app-text/poppler-0.5.1-r1 [0.5.0-r5]
[ebuild U ] app-text/gocr-0.40-r2 [0.39]

Out of curiousity, I did "emerge -s gst-plugins-esd"

Hmm, I don't have the latest version and emerge world doesn't show an update
for it? So I checked with "emerge -p gst-plugins-esd":

Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild NS ] media-libs/gstreamer-0.10.4
[ebuild N ] media-libs/gst-plugins-base-0.10.4-r1
[ebuild NS ] media-plugins/gst-plugins-esd-0.10.2

[ebuild N ] media-plugins/gst-plugins-xvideo-0.10.4-r1
[ebuild N ] media-plugins/gst-plugins-x-0.10.4

Huh? I don't have the latest gtreamer or gst-plugins-base? Checked my amd64
box... gstreamer and related plugins were updated on April 5, 2006 just as the
changlog and this bug list the date as being marked stable for amd64 in Comment
#5.

Comment #8 shows x86 marked stable as of April 23, 2006

Questions:

1. Shouldn't gstreamer-0.10.4, gst-plugins-base, etc., be upgraded/added with
an emerge world on my x86 box in the same manner as my amd64 box was?

Do I need both 0.8.x AND 0.10.x versions or can I safely upgrade to 0.10.x and
remove 0.8.x?

Thanks in advance for the help.

ia64, you have to mark gst-plugins/base-0.10.4-r1 stable, please.

ia64 already has 0.10.8 stable (as everyone else), closing this obsolete bug.
