mysql bug (see URL) #14609 makes using OpenOffice2 Base with MySQL difficult.
You get an error message if the table you access contains a DECIMAL column:

SQL Status: S1000
Unknown type '246 in column <DecimalCol> of <ColCount> in binary-encoded result
set.

Possible approaches:
- mark this bug WONTFIX/UPSTREAM and wait for 3.1.13
- create revision, apply patch from http://lists.mysql.com/commits/260
- create revision, built from nightly snapshot

Fixed with 3.1.13 being added to portage. Sorry for the delay. Thanks for
