It always takes me a while to find out where the logfiles from openafs are placed on Gentoo. I stick with the defaults so I do not try to look into Transarc AFS paths. I find it tentative to have the files in /var/log/openafs/. But it doesn't exist. Please create it as a softlink to /var/lib/openafs/logs. Thanks.
Once I promised you Stefan to submit comments on the directory permissions. Currently, when instaling additional db server I see with fresh Gentoo setup: Thu Mar 9 12:14:59 2006: unhappy with /var/lib/openafs/logs which is a dir that should have at least rights 755, at most rights 775 , owned by root # /usr/bin/ls -la /var/lib/openafs/logs total 144 drwx------ 2 root root 117 Mar 9 12:22 . drwx------ 4 root root 80 Mar 9 12:16 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 0 Mar 7 21:35 .keep -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 4181 Mar 9 12:22 BosLog -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 755 Mar 9 12:16 FileLog -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 282 Mar 9 12:22 PtLog -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 282 Mar 9 12:22 PtLog.old -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 248 Mar 9 12:22 VLLog -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 290 Mar 9 12:22 VLLog.old -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 85 Mar 9 12:16 VolserLog #
Stefaan, any time to look into this? Thanks.
... I always have to lookup this bug report to find where are the damn logfiles. :(
To be fixed in next release... (Symlink to /var/log/openafs, permission problem was already fixed, so it seems)
Fixed in openafs-1.4.3_pre20061220, have fun!
